Ordering & gifts
Does every order arrive gift boxed?
Yes — every order ships in a beautiful gift box with a little story card, at no extra cost. You can add a handwritten note at checkout, and we never include pricing or receipts in the box.
Can you ship directly to the recipient?
Absolutely. Just enter their address as the shipping address at checkout. Because everything arrives gift boxed with no pricing inside, it's ready to give the moment it lands on their doorstep.
Do you take custom or personalized orders?
Often, yes. If you have a specific fabric, colorway or combination in mind, send us a note — most custom requests can be accommodated within a normal small-batch timeline. Personalized and made-to-request items are final sale.
How much does the lovey cost, and what's a gift set?
A single handmade lovey blanket is $64. Gift sets are designer-curated bundles — a lovey paired with a matching sensory toy and burp cloth — available as standalone products. Shop the Gift Set or the Premium Set.
Materials & safety
What are the loveys made of?
Pre-washed natural cotton flannel, a light layer of batting for body and structure, and silky satin binding hand-stitched around every edge with mitered corners. You can read more about how it's made on The Craft page.
Are they safe for newborns?
The lovey is a comfort object designed for supervised, on-the-go cuddle time — strollers, car seats, lap time. In line with safe-sleep guidance, soft items shouldn't be left in the crib with a baby under 12 months during sleep.
Is the sensory toy safe for teething?
The sensory toy includes a natural wood ring for safe teething relief, ribbon tags and a crinkle interior. It's designed for babies from around 3 months, always under adult supervision, and not intended for use in the crib during sleep.
Washing & sizing
How do I wash it?
Machine washable and built for real life. Wash cold on a gentle cycle and tumble dry low — it actually gets softer with every wash. Full instructions are in the Care section below.
How big is the lovey?
Each lovey measures 18″ × 33″ — perfect for little arms to hold. Comforting but not bulky, so it comes along in a diaper bag without taking it over.

Free shipping applies to the continental US. For Alaska, Hawaii or international orders, get in touch and we'll arrange a rate.

Every lovey is made to be loved — but if something isn't right, we'll make it right.
- Return window
Returns and exchanges within 30 days of delivery.
- Condition
Items should be unused and unwashed, in their original gift box.
- How to start

- Refunds
Once your return arrives and is inspected, we refund to your original payment method within 3–5 business days.
- Return shipping
Customers cover return shipping unless the item arrived damaged or there was an error on our end — then it's on us.
- Exchanges
Want a different colorway? We're happy to swap within the 30-day window, subject to availability.
- Gift returns
Items bought for you by someone else are eligible for exchange only, not a refund.
- Custom items
Personalized and custom-made pieces are final sale and can't be returned for hygiene and made-to-order reasons.
Made to be washed often.
A Modern Lovey is meant to be dragged, snuggled and washed a hundred times — and to get softer for it.
- Washing
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent.
- Drying
Tumble dry low, or lay flat to dry. Low heat keeps the satin trim at its best.
- Avoid
Skip bleach and fabric softener — the cotton flannel softens beautifully on its own.
- Over time
Expect it to get softer, not worse, with every wash. That's the flannel doing its job.
- Sensory toy
Spot clean the fabric, as needed. If a full wash is needed, you can hand wash or wash in a machine on a gentle cycle, cool temperature. ALWAYS remove wood chew ring or toy you have attached. Hang to dry.
